Healing Sergio’s Family – A Dying Mother’s Wish

<< Back to Sergio's Family - Page 1

Healing. Despite the tragedy of their mother’s death and the crushing poverty at home this family remains united and the younger ones will have opportunities. It is an astonishingly fruitful compromise in a situation that usually has few happy alternatives. COAR takes care of the big things.

They go to school, they are kept safe, they have a housemother who cooks them nutritious food, makes sure they do their homework, and helps them learn their chores. And COAR takes care of the little things, like clean clothes and a haircut, and making sure the children have memories of their mother.

The entire staff watches the children and takes seriously their social development, talking out their conflicts and woes.

All the things their mother
hoped we would do.

and his brothers are able to live together in Casa San Jose, (the building behind them) along with 7 other boys their age. After the washing chores are done, they play!
